Interacid Trading S.A. (ITSA) was founded in Lausanne in 1970 to bring a sustainable business solution to worldwide smelters needing to market their sulfuric acid. From our Lausanne’s office, we define our commercial strategy and manage the sulfuric acid global trade and logistics.
Throughout the years we have developed a large number of long term contracts. These include both important suppliers and large consumers involved in various businesses such as fertilizer production, mining extraction (leaching), and many other industrial uses (pulp and paper, water treatment, batteries, plastics, iron pickling etc…). Due to the high bulk volume carried each year, vessels are chartered utilizing our Shipping Department to gain greater logistics flexibility and better product flows.
The combination of a highly diversified pool of suppliers and receivers, and a unique 260,000 MT storage capacity worldwide gives us a competitive edge to better serve your product demands.
In 1994, Interacid established two companies in Chile, Interacid Trading S.A. (ITC), a company based in Santiago dedicated to the trading of sulfuric acid and Interacid Chile Limitada (ICL), a company handling the storage and dispatch of sulfuric acid to end-users.
Both companies were merged in 2008 to better coordinate the sulfuric acid supply to copper leaching projects in the north of Chile by sourcing the acid requirement from national producers as well as from overseas.
Interacid Chile has a maritime terminal located in Chile’s Region II (Mejillones). This region consumes approximately 80% of the sulfuric acid used in mining operations. The total storage capacity of the terminal is 135,000 metric tons. The terminal facilities allow the receipt of vessels of up to 65,000 metric tons (deadweight).
The above-mentioned terminal is also equipped to dispatch the acid in trucks (up to 280 trucks/24 hours) and rail cars (up to 10 trains of 30 cars/24 hours) according to the requirements of our clients. Strict compliance with health, safety, security, and environmental regulations are in force.
Sulphuric Acid Trading Company, Inc. (SATCO) imports and distributes sulfuric acid into the United States. We started operations 30 years ago with our 80k mt capacity marine terminal located at Port Tampa Bay Florida. This facility is NSF 60 and ISO 9001certified and is well positioned to service the Southwest and Eastern Seaboard Sulphuric Acid market by truck or rail. SATCO markets 93-98% acid to the industrial, mining and agricultural customers for use in a wide range of applications. In addition, SATCO has marketing agreements to supply acid from Mexico to customers in the South and Southwestern United States In 3rd quarter of 2019, SATCO will expand operations to the west coast of the united states with a newly built import terminal located in Stockton California. The terminal will have a storage capacity of 30k MT and will for the first time link the Ag, Mining and Industrial demand in the Western USA with supply from the Pacific region.
