In the year 1994, Interacid established
two companies in Chile, Interacid Trading S.A. (ITC),
a company oriented to the trading of sulphuric acid
having its basis in Santiago and Interacid Chile Limitada
(ICL), a company dedicated to the storage and dispatch
of sulphuric acid.
Both companies were created to supply sulphuric acid
requirements of copper leaching projects in the North
of Chile sourcing the sulphuric acid requirement from
national producers as well as from overseas.
ICL has two maritime terminals located in the I and
II Region of Chile. These regions consume approx 80%
of the sulphuric acid used in mining operations. The
total storage capacity of both terminals is 100.000
mt. The terminal facilities
allow the reception of vessels of up to 65.000 mt (deadweight) in Mejillones (II Region) and 45.000
mt (deadweight) in Patache (I Region).
